$1.5 Million from Province
It has been reported today that the Manitoba Provincial government will be putting $1.5 million to the Friends of Upper Fort Garry to help them in their campaign to raise the money needed to purchase the lot of land that currently holds the Upper Fort Garry gate. This is only fitting, as the Fort saw the birthplace of the provincial government in 1870 with its occupation by Louis Riel for his provisional provincial government.
